1975 Robert C. Weber had his „Monoski“ patented. This board was not a conventional Monoski but the precursor of the snowboard. Later Jake Burton bought the patent and passed it on to other companies.

The ski industry brings in its technical know how and constructs the first asymmetric prototypes.
(i do not wanna bring in the name of the company - but YES it was a ski company who started to make the first boards with edges)
